Item stacking in Teamfight Tactics (TFT)
I have explained how item stacking works in Teamfight Tactics (TFT) and listed all the items that stack and that do not stack.
All the items available in TFT are split into four groups based on how they stack.
For ease-of-use, the items in each group are sorted in alphabetical order.
Note that we are talking about item effects; item stats are always provided.
The items have been tested during patch 9.15b, so some interactions might change in the future, but I will do my best to keep this article updated.
Item interactions were all removed in patch 9.14. Previously, there were game-breaking effects, such as the ability to heal off Thornmail’s damage with Hextech Gunblade. Also, Ability Power used to increase the items’ damage, healing, and shield effects.
Patch 9.18 reworked the item stacking system. Now, adding copies of items that do not stack will cause them to bounce off any champion they are placed on. I have updated the list below with the new items that are not intended to stack.
Items that do not stack
These items do not stack if used several times on the same champion.
Guardian Angel
the champion can’t revive multiple times and doesn’t receive more health after resurrecting. It works if used on a different champion.
Ionic Spark
even if you have this item on a different champion, only one Ionic Spark will work on the battlefield, while the other one is disabled.
Luden’s Echo
it works if used on a different champion.
Morellonomicon
it works if used on a different champion, but their effect won’t stack. If the same unit is affected by both Morellonomicon and Red Buff, only the stronger effect will work.
Phantom Dancer
a single item already provides 100% dodge chance against critical strikes.
Red Buff
it works in the same way as Morellonomicon.
Zephyr
it is a unique item from Patch 9.19.
Items that stack
The effects provided by the following items can stack multiple times on the same champion. Usually, their effect duplicates/triplicates, or there are two/three instances of the same effect that proc simultaneously.
Beware of math for percentage-based effects such as Dragon’s Claw’s magic resistance as they do not scale additively but multiplicatively.
Bloodthirster
Cursed Blade (removed in Set 2)
if you are very lucky, it is possible to double/triple shrink a champion with a single attack.
Dragon’s Claw
Force of Nature
Frozen Heart
Guinsoo’s Rageblade
Hextech Gunblade
Hush
it provides two/three separate chances to silence the target.
Infinity Edge
Locket of the Iron Solari
Rabadon’s Deathcap
Rapid Firecannon
two items will quadruplicate (4x) the attack range of the unit.
Redemption
the healing effect is doubled/tripled.
Runaan’s Hurricane
Seraph’s Embrace
Spear of Shojin
Statikk Shiv
Sword Breaker
Sword of the Divine
it provides two/three separate chances to inflict a critical strike.
Thornmail
Titanic Hydra
Warmog’s Armor
Zeke’s Herald
Basic items
Obviously, the basic items stack as they provide only bonus stats.
B.F Sword
Chain Vest
Giant’s Belt
Needlessly Large Rod
Negatron Cloak
Recurve Bow
Tear of the Goddess
Sparring Gloves
Spatula upgrades
The following items are Spatula upgrades that grant the wearer an extra class or origin. As of patch 9.18, Spatula upgrades can no longer be placed twice on the same champion.
Youmuu's Ghostblade
Blade of the Ruined King
Warden's Mail
Talisman of Light
Frozen Mallet
Inferno's Cinder
Mage's Cap
Force of Nature
Berserker Axe
Set 2 update: Unique items
Note: I did not test most of the items again in Set 2, and this is also no longer possible because the game labels some of them as Unique, so you can’t place them twice on the same champion. Beside the Spatula upgrades, also the following items are Unique.
Repeating Crossbow
Talisman of Light
Red Buff
Morellonomicon
Phantom Dancer
Jeweled Gauntlet
Zephyr
