Best TFT items for each champion - Set 3

The best and most used items for each Teamfight Tactics champion. Data gathered via the Riot API from over 30.000 high ranked matches.

Data source

This guide uses a statistical-based approach in an attempt to provide a reliable list of the best items for each TFT champion.

  • The charts below show the most used items for each champion in first-placed compositions.

  • The data is based on 30.000+ high-elo matches played in May 2020 during patch 10.9.

  • These statistics can considered official because they are gathered via the Riot API, which is available at developer.riotgames.com.

  • All the champions are sorted in alphabetical order.

Item usage vs win rate

The data indicates the most common items for each champion, whereas the item win rate is not considered.

I want to clarify that the win rate itself is not a deciding factor because the most popular items are also the most contested, thus they tend to achieve a win rate around 50%.

Similarly, mediocre items usually have a higher win rate because they are picked in niche situations and compositions to counter a certain meta build.

Average items per champion

The average number of items indicated below each champion is a very underrated and useful stat because it tells us which units are usually played as a carry.

If you are trying a composition you are not very familiar with, and you don’t know exactly on which champions you should build items on, just check out these charts to find the units with the highest average number of items.

Prioritize the units with at least 1-1.5 items. In particular, those with 2.0 items or more are the hard carries of the current top compositions.

Note: I added a table at the bottom of the article with this data. I hope it helps ;).

Jinx is the best Red Buff user among Blasters

Red Buff: Attacks burn 2% enemy Maximum Health per second for 10s and reduce healing by 27%.

Blaster compositions are super strong in this meta, so I decided to explain why Jinx is the best unit to carry Red Buff.

All Blaster units are actually able to utilize Red Buff, but Jinx is one of the most consistent choices:

  • Usually, she survives the longest.

  • Her passive provides bonus attack speed, which helps to proc the Blaster trait as many times as possible during the round.

Blaster: Every fourth Basic Attack fires Additional Attacks which apply on-hit effects.

  • Miss Fortune is also an excellent option, however, as the number of item slots is limited, you prefer building AP items on this champion.

Ionic Spark popularity

Ionic Spark: Enemies within 2 hexes have their Magic Resist reduced by 50%. When they cast a spell, they are zapped taking  225% of their max Mana as magic damage.

The data shows that Ionic Spark is a very popular item on several champions. This is mostly caused by the passive magic resistance reduction as it basically increases the damage inflicted by the spells of your whole team against those units.

The active shock effect is useful, but honestly it is not the main factor behind the attractiveness of this item.

Titan’s Resolve is a niche item

Titan’s Resolve: When the wearer is hit or deals a critical hit, they gain a 2% stacking damage bonus. Stacks up to 50 times, at which point the wearer gains 25 Armor and Magic Resistance.

Titan’s Resolve is a formidable item if your unit is able to survive long enough to gain lots of stacks, which requires a huge amount of health points or the ability to land a ton of critical hits.

Currently, the only units able to exploit it properly are the Super-Mech and Xin Zhao:

  • The Super-Mech - obtained via the Mech-Pilot synergy - has 1500 base HP plus a percentage of the Pilot’s health.

  • Xin Zhao is a tanky champion able to shield and heal himself via the Protector and Celestial synergies, but he also requires Bramble Vest and Dragon’s Claw to maximize his survivability.
