Skulz's HotS Competitive Hero Tier List February 2018

Skulz's HotS Competitive Hero Tier List February 2018

The Heroes of the Storm Competitive Hero Tier List for February 2018 is ready. It is based on objective data: the drafts in pro games of the previous 30 days.

All heroes are ordered in five tiers based on their draft rate. The tiers are viewed as clusters of data, and each hero is placed in the one they are closer the most. For example, Tracer in tier 3 is closer to Dehaka and Malthael than she is to Blaze and Malfurion.

The tier list is based on picks and bans in pro games during the past 30 days. The performance of a certain hero in pub matches is not a reliable source for this list.

The win rate has no effect on the tiers, but is included for further info. For example, Hanzo could be considered the real victor in tier 1 with his stunning 58% win rate.

No personal opinions. Every month, we will see which heroes raised or declined in rank solely through the statistics.

All tables are responsive and sortable. If you are using a phone, turn it sideways for a full view. Otherwise, zoom in or click the grey area of each table to swipe and sort them.

Tier 1

Hero Name P+B P+B % Picks Picks % Bans Bans % Win %
Greymane 158 91% 119 68% 39 22% 46%
Genji 155 89% 64 37% 91 52% 42%
Hanzo 146 84% 96 55% 50 29% 58%

The tier 1 featured the same heroes also in January, and with similar win rates.

Tier 2

Hero Name P+B P+B % Picks Picks % Bans Bans % Win %
Uther 136 78% 105 60% 31 18% 48%
E.T.C. 135 78% 99 57% 36 21% 54%
Tyrael 131 75% 105 60% 26 15% 44%
Malfurion 117 67% 88 51% 29 17% 57%
Blaze 113 65% 92 53% 21 12% 55%

Blaze jumped here from the low-end tier 4, but the increased number of games also affected his win rate, which was 75% during the past month.

Tier 3

Hero Name P+B P+B % Picks Picks % Bans Bans % Win %
Tracer 90 52% 45 26% 45 26% 60%
Dehaka 87 50% 75 43% 12 7% 56%
Malthael 81 47% 60 34% 21 12% 40%
Abathur 81 47% 14 8% 67 39% 57%
Rehgar 79 45% 71 41% 8 5% 45%
Anub'arak 67 39% 37 21% 30 17% 62%
Muradin 65 37% 59 34% 6 3% 41%
Tychus 63 36% 51 29% 12 7% 39%
Li-Ming 57 33% 52 30% 5 3% 46%

Generally, tier 4 and 5 heroes are situational. They can be useful when employed to counter a specific draft or create combos with other heroes. Remember: in a competitive environment, not all heroes can adapt to any game, but they still have a niche.

Not drafted Heroes

A surprisingly low number of heroes was neglected in competitive play during February!

Notes

  • All the data in the match-ticker used for this tier list is added manually, so a small percentage of mistakes is possible.

  • I couldn't identify the win rate of some heroes with just a few picks.

  • These are the statistics of the past 30 days, not just February. I finished gathering them on March 1st in the morning.

  • All regions are included.

  • A tiny amount of data is missing. For example, Ragnaros was drafted 17 times and picked 15, but I couldn't find the 2 bans.

Next Tier List: March 2018
