Skulz's HotS Competitive Hero Tier List April 2018

Skulz's HotS Competitive Hero Tier List April 2018

The Heroes of the Storm Competitive Hero Tier List for April 2018 is ready. It is based on objective data: the drafts in pro games of the previous 30 days.

All heroes are ordered in five tiers based on their draft rate. The tiers are viewed as clusters of data, and each hero is placed in the one they are closer the most. For example, Diablo in tier 3 is closer to E.T.C. and Greymane than he is to Tracer and Malthael.

The tier list is based on picks and bans in pro games during the past 30 days. The performance of a certain hero in pub matches is not a reliable source for this list.

The win rate has no effect on the tiers, but is included for further info. For example, Garrosh might be considered the best tier 1 hero due to his astonishing win rate.

No personal opinions. Every month, we will see which heroes raised or declined in rank solely through the statistics.

Past Tier List: March 2018

All tables are responsive and sortable. If you are using a phone, turn it sideways for a full view. Otherwise, zoom in or click the grey area of each table to swipe and sort them.

Tier 1

Hero Name P+B P+B% Picks Picks% Bans Bans% Win%
Malfurion 92 95% 78 80% 14 14% 49%
Garrosh 88 91% 46 47% 42 43% 59%
Hanzo 85 88% 58 60% 27 28% 50%
Genji 81 84% 46 47% 35 36% 54%

In March, Hanzo dropped in low tier 2 for the first time in months, but now he is back in tier 1 as the second most picked hero of the game.

Tier 2

Hero Name P+B P+B% Picks Picks% Bans Bans% Win%
Medivh 71 73% 27 28% 44 45% 59%
Sonya 70 72% 57 59% 13 13% 53%
Stukov 65 67% 48 49% 17 18% 48%
Junkrat 52 54% 39 40% 13 13% 54%
Maiev 47 48% 21 22% 26 27% 67%
Uther 45 46% 33 34% 12 12% 42%
Malthael 43 44% 26 27% 17 18% 62%
Tracer 42 43% 25 26% 17 18% 56%

Medivh, Sonya, and Stukov have a higher draft rate than the other tier 2 heroes, but not enough to reach tier 1. You can consider them a grey area between the two tiers.

Tier 3

Hero Name P+B P+B% Picks Picks% Bans Bans% Win%
Diablo 37 38% 25 26% 12 12% 52%
E.T.C. 36 37% 29 30% 7 7% 52%
Greymane 35 36% 29 30% 6 6% 55%
Tychus 35 36% 31 32% 4 4% 48%
Varian 29 30% 22 23% 7 7% 32%
Tyrael 28 29% 22 23% 6 6% 55%
Blaze 27 28% 20 21% 7 7% 50%
Thrall 24 25% 24 25% 0 0% 54%
Rehgar 24 25% 24 24% 0 0% 65%
Zeratul 22 23% 11 11% 11 11% 45%
Muradin 22 23% 22 23% 0 0% 41%

Generally, tier 4 and 5 heroes are situational. They can be useful when employed to counter a specific draft or create combos with other heroes. Remember: in a competitive environment, not all heroes can adapt to any game, but they still have a niche.

Notes

  • All the data in the match-ticker used for this tier list is added manually, so a small percentage of mistakes is possible.

  • I couldn't identify the win rate of some heroes with just a few picks.

  • These are the statistics of the past 30 days, not just April. I finished gathering them in the morning of April 30th.

  • The four main regions are included: NA, Korea, China, and Europe. I know that there are multiple websites tracking games, but honestly there isn't an overall best option. I prefer using GGnet because they are quite consistent also with Chinese games.

  • Some data might be missing.
