Best Sniper Rifles attachments in CoD Modern Warfare and Warzone

Best Sniper Rifles attachments in CoD Modern Warfare and Warzone

The best sniper rifles and attachments in Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone. All guns are split in four tiers.

The analysis has been provided by qKatana, a veteran Call of Duty player who wrote each gun guide only after unlocking the corresponding Gold camo.

Note that optics are very subjective, and you may prefer a different one depending on your personal preferences, your tactical approach, and the game mode: this is particularly relevant in Warzone as we fight in a large map.

Tier S

HDR

  • Tier S for hard scoping and Tier A for quick scoping.

The HDR is definitely the best sniper rifle for long range engagements as it has a higher bullet velocity and longer one-shot kill range by default, with a 25m increase over the 75m base range from the AX-50. My go-to for Warzone.

26.9” HDR Pro. It increases damage range and bullet velocity. I recommend it for any game mode with longer sightlines such as Warzone, Ground War, and 10v10 maps.

FTAC Champion. This attachment is a godsend as it reduces the idle sway to almost none. If you always hold your breath when sniping, there is no need for the FTAC Champion, and it could be swapped for the stock that increases ADS speed.

Tac Laser. The base ADS speed is pretty slow, so increasing it is necessary if you want to benefit from that one-shot kill potential as best as possible. Your TTK is zero milliseconds in most cases, and ADS is the only thing holding you back from getting instant kills as soon as you see an enemy.

7 Round Mags. I don’t advise the 9 rounds as your ADS speed is decreased significantly in comparison, as well as movement speed. Sleight of Hand could be an option, but I think 7 Round Mags is better as the reload speed is already decent.

Focus. Just to reduce flinch when in a gunfight head-on with an enemy. It allows you to remain on target while getting shot at. It can be swapped for a suppressor if needed, but please note that the Monolithic Suppressor does decrease ADS speed by a decent amount.

The Lightweight Suppressor is a very underrated attachment even though it decreases range by 25%. At base stats, this goes from 100m OSK to a 75m OSK range (same as AX-50). This means that your ADS speed won’t change dramatically , and you will get a suppressor.

Notes: This is the best sniper for longer range engagements as you can make the aiming stability (idle sway) almost zero with the stock - whereas you can’t with the AX-50. It has also a higher bullet velocity and damage range.

Tier A

AX-50

  • Tier A for hard scoping and Tier S for quick scoping.

The AX-50 is superior to the HDR for quick scoping as there are more attachments for increasing ADS speed, while the HDR only gets a stock and Tac Laser. This setup is not made for Ground War or Warzone and is based around quick scoping. I will also suggest swaps for a more all-round loadout.

Stippled Grip Tape. Obviously, the best attachment in CoD. It increases ADS speed while only decreasing aiming stability slightly, and the sprint to fire speed increment is negligible.

Singuard Arms Assassin. It improves the ADS speed while only reducing aiming stability, which isn’t needed when quick scoping. The stock that increases aiming stability is very good for sniping in Ground War or Warzone, but make sure you find a balance of ADS and aiming stability.

17.0” Factory Barrel. A largely beneficial increase to ADS speed as well as movement speed. Unfortunately, it decreases bullet velocity, but this won’t matter at most ranges as the one-shot kill range is 75m by default. Get Singuard Arms Pro barrel for Ground War or if you don’t enjoy quick scoping.

Tac Laser. Increases ADS speed, aim walking steadiness, and aiming stability, while only having a revealing laser which won’t be seen when quick-scoping (or only for a split of a second).

7 Round Mags. The extra 2 rounds are really helpful on sniper rifles. I believe the 9 Round Mags isn’t worth it because it decreases ADS speed and movement speed slightly. Sleight of Hand is also a possible swap, but it isn’t too much quicker, so I went with the 7 rounds.

Tier B

none.

Tier C

Dragunov

This one is for Ground War players (and maybe 10v10). Honestly, I couldn’t find a loadout that made this weapon good, but here we go. Still, I do not recommend the Dragunov.

Focus. I feel that Focus is very important on this sniper rifle because it reduces the flinch dramatically.

Tac Laser. The ADS speed increase by 2 frames is extremely helpful considering the very slow ADS speed by default.

660mm Extended Barrel. This is necessary for Ground War to hit shots more easily and to one-shot at longer ranges. Recoil control doesn’t do much, but I guess it helps. Replace this barrel with the short one for smaller maps and to have a DMR style weapon instead, though the EBR-14 is way better than the Dragunov at that.

Variable Zoom Scope. The default sniper scope is fine, but I don’t really like the look of it and I prefer this cleaner sight. Also, it is a 5x which is nicer for the Dragunov, and can also switch to 12.1x for very long range kills in Ground War. It can be swapped with the Cronen optic (3.5x without going).

FTAC Stalker-Scout. Increased ADS by 1 frame. It is not too important, and you could probably use something like the increased aim walking movement speed stock.

Notes: Honestly, this gun doesn’t have many appealing attachments, so take this setup with a grain of salt. This sniper is pretty forgiving though: if you miss the first shot your fire rate is pretty fast so you can fire a second shot quickly.
