Best Marksman Rifles attachments in CoD Modern Warfare and Warzone
The best marksman rifles and attachments in Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone. All guns are split in four tiers.
The analysis has been provided by qKatana, a veteran Call of Duty player who wrote each gun guide only after unlocking the corresponding Gold camo.
Note that optics are very subjective, and you may prefer a different one depending on your personal preferences, your tactical approach, and the game mode: this is particularly relevant in Warzone as we fight in a large map.

Tier S
MK2 Carbine
The MK2 Carbine is an absolute machine! It is so easy to get one-shot kills while running around.
Stippled Grip Tape. Reduces ADS time by 2 frames, and it also seems to reduce sprint to fire speed by 5-10%, although isn’t consistent for every weapon. It allows for those quick fire one-shot kills after coming out of a sprint.
Tac Laser. Further Increases ADS speed by 2 frames to turn this marksman rifle into a quick scoping machine - better than the KAR98K, but maybe less satisfying. Aim walking steadiness is somewhat helpful and the aiming stability is irrelevant. Furthermore, the visible laser doesn’t matter since you’ll be ADS for like half a second as this weapon isn’t really made for sniping at long range.
Aim-Op Reflex Sight. This isn’t the most important sight or anything, just my personal preference. I do however recommend using a sight with the MK2, and for game modes with longer ranges I suggest something like the VLK 3.0x optic.
FSS 18.0” Factory. It brings a slight improvement to damage range and increased bullet velocity. I opted for this short barrel because it has the lowest reduction to ADS time. Recoil control and the small decrease to movement speed are negligible.
Sleight of Hand. The other option is to use either the aim walking movement speed stock or the ADS speed stock: the latter is not really necessary, but with longer barrels it might be a good choice. Sleight of Hand is always a great addition to any gun, and it allows for faster paced gun play as you only have 6 bullets in the chamber.
Tier A
EBR-14
The EBR-14 is excellent for 10v10 maps! Although not Tier A for short maps such as Shoothouse, it can still be viable, and I did make it viable.
FORGE TAC Precision 22.0”. This barrel is extremely important, not just because of the damage range improvement, but primarily because of the significantly improved recoil control, with bullet velocity improvement being an added benefit for those longer ranges. I have no clue about how much the movement speed is affected, nor the ADS speed, but I guess it is 1 or 2 frames.
FSS Raider Chassis Elite. This stock is absolutely amazing. Increased ADS speed, sprint to fire speed, and aim walking movement speed. Decreases to aiming stability and aim walking steadiness are pretty negligible.
VLK 3.0x Optic. An optic is necessary on the EBR-14, especially a zoomed one. The VLK is my favourite zoom optic on this weapon, though if you choose to use a 1x optic, the G.I. Mini Reflex is fantastic too for closer engagements (smaller map). However, the EBR is a true semi-automatic weapon with high damage.
15 Round Mags. 10 Rounds just doesn’t cut it for me, 20 rounds are great, but the movement speed penalty feels too much, though can definitely be used, so I compromised. Reload speed is quite fast too.
Operator Foregrip. Improved recoil control without taking away from aim walking movement speed like the Ranger Foregrip. The bounce on the EBR-14 is very significant, so this is needed in addition to the extended barrel.
Notes: The EBR can one-shot to the head at any range and is a two-shot kill to the body at very far distances.
Tier B
KAR98K
The KAR98K is quite underwhelming as a marksman rifle and it looks more like a sniper rifle, yet it still has the damage and range of a marksman rifle. It has a very slow cocking speed in comparison to the MK2 Carbine.
As a result, it can effectively be utilised as a satisfying quick-scope machine with a really fast ADS speed using specific attachments - instead of being a very bad sniper for longer ranges. There aren’t too many viable attachments for this weapon as several variables such as recoil control are useless.
Stippled Grip Tape. Reduces ADS speed and sprint to fire speed in case you need to quickly no scope someone at point blank, though sprint to fire won’t matter too much.
Tac Laser. Again, I am trying to reduce ADS speed as much as possible. The laser also provides aim walking steadiness, which might prove useful at times when walking around a corner if you know someone is there. Usually, I don’t like using lasers, but this is necessary to be a quick-scoping machine.
Sniper Scope. This is my favourite optic: just a clean sniper scope with a 7x zoom, great for quick scoping. The downside/upside is that the bullets can’t be chambered in from the top all in one mag, but now they have to be loaded in 1 by 1.
This could be a benefit if you just want one more bullet, however, it increases the reload (add) time from 2 seconds to 5 seconds! This is a huge downside which is very annoying, but it is the only way you can have a nice quick scoping optic.
FTAC Sport Comb. Another ADS speed reducing attachment with the only downside being aiming stability, which is almost irrelevant when quick scoping. Without this attachment the ADS speed for quick scoping is still very good, but not optimal. Can be taken off if needed.
Focus. This perk reduces flinch when being shot at, so your gun doesn’t spring upwards when trying to get a shot on someone in a face-to-face gunfight. It can be replaced with Sleight of Hand to decrease the reload (add) time from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.
The reduced flinch is very nice, and without it sometimes I hit above their head and miss them for the first shot. From there you are screwed since it takes so long to cock the weapon back to fire another shot.
Tier C
None.
