Best Shotguns attachments in CoD Modern Warfare and Warzone
The best Shotguns and attachments in Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone. All guns are split in four tiers.
The analysis has been provided by qKatana, a veteran Call of Duty player who wrote each gun guide only after unlocking the corresponding Gold camo.
Note that optics are very subjective, and you may prefer a different one depending on your personal preferences, your tactical approach, and the game mode: this is particularly relevant in Warzone as we fight in a large map.

Tier S
725
I think the 725 is the best shotgun in Call of Duty, even after the nerfs. It is definitely not as overpowered as it used to be, but it still shreds at a great range. The one-shot kill potential is the best in its class, and the time between shots is pretty good.
Tempus 32” Competition. The extended range seems very significant, though we have no info on the exact numbers. The tighter pellet spread is also a great addition, and the only downsides are minor decreases to ADS speed and movement speed: I am guessing it is 2 frames for ADS and 2% for movement speed.
Sawed-off Stock. Increased movement speed and ADS speed to counteract the extended barrel which increases the one-shot kill potential. The reductions to recoil control and aiming stability are both irrelevant, particularly the latter because idle sway is negligible for shotguns.
FORGE TAC Steady Grip. It is mandatory on this gun as it brings increased sprint to fire and ADS speed.
Merc Foregrip. The increased recoil control counters the stock’s negative one, and further reduces it to the point you don’t even have to pull down before the next shot. Increased ADS speed with a small reduction to movement speed.
Sleight of Hand. With only two bullets available before being forced to reload, Sleight of Hand allows you to proceed to the next gunfight at a quicker pace, especially in tight situations among a group of enemies. An alternative to this attachment can be the Monolithic Suppressor.
Tier A
Model 680
Initially, I didn’t like this weapon, but I realized that I wasn’t using the correct attachments on it: the ADS speed was too slow and I’d die before being able to aim down sights. It is easy to get Gold.
XRK 18.0” Liberator. The improved damage range is extremely important to increase its one-shot potential. The tighter pellet spread is also necessary to ensure all the shots will hit the target. It reduces ADS speed by about 1 or 2 frames.
No Stock. Increased ADS speed, which is essential for this shotgun as you will be aiming down sights the majority of the time. Model 680 is your typical one pump, one-shot kill shotgun. The movement speed increase allows you to keep mobile as you will be running around a lot.
FSS Marauder. It is similar to the barrel. The extended damage range and tighter pellet spread aren’t as significant, but they still help. The sound suppression is an added benefit with only minor downsides to ADS and aim walking steadiness.
XRK Truegrip Tactical. It provides increased recoil control (not necessary due to the delay between pumps), and most importantly, increased ADS speed.
5mW Laser. Many players hate lasers - me included - but the sprint to fire speed is too good to resist for shotguns. Hip fire accuracy isn’t crucial, but it is always nice for those sudden point-blank encounters while sprinting around a corner. Replacement attachments could include 1mW Laser, Sleight of Hand, or even an optic if you really want to.
R9-0 Shotgun
The R9-0 Shotgun is an unique one with its 2 shots and pump action. The one-shot kill range isn’t horrible, but it isn’t great either, and it can’t be improved much by the extended barrel. Therefore, most of the time you will have to shoot 2 shots from the 14 rounds available to kill one person, which also pumps the weapon to fire another 2 shots in quick succession.
5mW Laser. The sprint to fire speed is necessary on all shotguns. The increased hip fire accuracy helps a ton when hip firing.
Stippled Grip Tape. Once again, the sprint to fire speed is always helpful, though doesn’t reduce it by as much as the 5mW Laser. The increase to ADS speed by 2 frames is significant on the R9-0 since you will be aiming the majority of the time as the spread dramatically reduces when aiming down sights.
Merc Foregrip. Another reduction to ADS time, and also an increase to recoil control, which helps when hitting that second shot you will have to shoot in most scenarios.
Monolithic Suppressor. It brings an increase to damage range of about 7.5%. However, this isn’t the primary reason for including this attachment.
R9-0 only shoots 2 buckshot before having to pump the shotgun, and it has a delay before being able to shoot again. Sometimes you will one-shot the opponent, which then leaves you with just one shot (instead of two) before having to pump again. Therefore, it is wise to shoot a second shot into thin air so you can have those shots available for your next gunfight, and this is where the suppressor comes in handy.
Sleight of Hand. Since you will be firing off that second shot if you only use one, you basically have only 7 rounds in the cartridge. The reload time for all 14 buckshot is very slow as you must load all of them one by one, and SoH will dramatically reduce that time. Extended Barrel is another potential attachment, though from gameplay I didn’t notice any difference with it.
Notes: The two-shot kill range is very strong, so play within that range to benefit the most from this weapon. The TTK is pretty fast with the 2 shots fired in quick succession: in most cases, I’d recommend shooting both shots even in close proximity in case you miss a pellet or two.
Tier B
Origin 12 Shotgun
This shotgun is a hip fire only machine. Do not ADS as it doesn’t help tighten the spread by much, and you will lose all mobility while doing it. This setup is designed for shipment because there is no reason to use this shotgun on any other map. Disregard attachments that help with recoil or lower ADS speed, aiming stability, etc. since they don’t do anything to the weapon for how it is played.
5mW Laser. The sprint to fire speed is necessary on all shotguns. The increased hip fire accuracy helps a ton when hip firing.
FORGE TAC Impale. I don’t know exactly how much damage range is provided by the barrels, but it seems to help at least somewhat, and it makes a difference in certain engagements as it increases the one-shot range potential.
25 Round Drum Mags. This attachment allows you to spray as much as you want without having to reload any time soon. Your movement speed is dropped substantially, but I do believe it is worth it. Feel free to use the 12 Round Mags if you prefer it.
No Stock. The movement speed improvement is the only stat I’m looking for in this attachment because it helps to counter the reduction brought by both barrel and drum mag. The ADS speed decrease is negligible as you will not be aiming down sights during any gunfight.
Stippled Grip Tape. The sprint to fire speed seems to stack with the laser. You could also use Tactical Suppressor because it only decreases ADS speed, but I don’t think it is worth it. Frangible – Wounding/Disabling Are also potential options.
Notes: Muzzle and underbarrel attachments don’t seem to do much at all in terms of recoil control or stabilization, optics are useless too since you’re hip firing, and perks aren’t too useful either; not even Sleight of Hand because you don’t need to reload often and it is quick anyhow.
Tier C
None.
