INTERNETHULK’s cause of death is a heart disease

The family of INTERNETHULK revealed the disease that caused his death: an enlarged heart. They thanked the community for their support with a letter.

Dennis “INTERNETHULK” Hawelka died in November at the age of 30. He was a German player who competed in various games, such as Starcraft 2, League of Legends, and finally Overwatch.

In 2016-2017, he was a player and captain for Team EnVyUs, and afterwards moved on a coaching position for Laser Kittenz, Rogue, and Team Liquid.

Many of you have said that our beloved son and brother helped them and that he had a big heart. The irony of fate is that forensic found out that he died because of it. For years, his heart must have enlarged so that it could no longer fulfill its task. They told us the cause of this is difficult to identify. It could also be genetic, though we don’t know of a case in the family.

Dennis was extremely loved by his fans. In November, the Overwatch community honored his memory with The Hulktastic Cup, a tournament streamed on GosuGamers Twitch channel that featured both professional players and OW personalities.

Blizzard also added an in-game memorial dedicated to him in the German-based map Eichenwalde. You can find it in the attackers' spawn near the Crusader poster.

Below, the letter shared by his family:
