Dota Underlords: best DPS hero units

All the Dota Underlords heroes sorted by DPS at each star. When evaluating an unit potential damage, consider also their abilities and offensive synergies.

  • The heroes are sorted according to their DPS. I have included the values at all stars so you will be able to compare easily standard and upgraded units. For example, a two-stars Tusk has as much DPS as a one-star Doom.

  • The DPS value is based on the physical damage inflicted by the hero’s auto-attacks. For example, a three-stars Anti-Mage has 1.20 attack speed and 180-220 attack damage. The average damage of each attack is 200, so if we divide it by 1.2 we have a DPS of 166.6, which rounds to 167.

The table is responsive and sortable. If you are using a phone, turn it sideways for a full view. Otherwise, zoom in or click the grey area to swipe and sort it.

The table above doesn’t tell us the whole story because it takes into account only the stats of the heroes, but it doesn’t consider their abilities and synergies.

Offensive synergies

Heartless is certainly the most consistent DPS synergy because it reduces the armor of all the opponents. Also in Dota Auto Chess, it was a popular split for physical damage oriented lineups.

Assassins have the highest physical burst damage in the game because their synergy increases their critical chance and damage. They are usually a niche choice that works great only against a few team compositions.

Hunters have a chance to perform extra attacks. This bonus is quite handy for a hero with a high attack damage or with items able to proc effects on hit, such as Maelstrom.

Demons gain pure damage, which is extremely efficient versus tanks because it ignores the armor value of the target.

Blood-Bound heroes deal extra attack damage for the rest of the battle once the other Blood-Bound units die. Note that currently there are only supportive heroes with this synergy.

Finally, Savage units provide extra attack damage to all the allies, while Trolls give attack speed.

Auto-attack based hero abilities

In Dota Underlords, there are several heroes with bonuses able to improve drastically their own DPS or the team’s one. I have listed them below in alphabetical order.

I have not included summons because in this article we are focusing entirely on the auto-attack damage provided by each hero.

  • Alchemist. Acid Spray reduces the armor of the opponents affected.

  • Anti-Mage. Mana Break burns the opponent’s mana with each attack, and inflicts a percentage of the mana burnt as damage. This ability is particularly effective against heroes with dangerous ultimates as they won’t be able to accumulate enough mana as long as AM keeps attacking them.

  • Batrider. Sticky Napalm adds a raw amount of damage to his attacks depending on the number of Sticky Napalm stacks applied on the target. The damage increase is noticeable, but you will rarely focus the same enemy for such a long time.

  • Bloodseeker. Bloodrage grants attack speed for every % of health missing.

  • Dragon Knight. Elder Dragon Form adds poison and splash damage to his auto-attacks (depending on the tier). This is a very powerful unit from two-stars onwards.

  • Drow Ranger. Precision Aura adds bonus attack speed to all allies 1 cell away.

  • Luna. Thanks to the passive Moon Glaives, her attacks bounce between enemies 2 cells away (but they deal less damage with each bounce).

  • Lycan. After the transformation, he gains a chance to inflict critical damage with each attack.

  • Medusa. Units petrified by Stone Gaze receive extra physical damage by the whole team.

  • Ogre Magi. Bloodlust gives attack speed to the unit buffed.

  • Phantom Assassin. Her passive Coup de Grace grants a chance to inflict heavy critical damage with each attack.

  • Slardar. Corrosive Haze reduces the armor of the target for a period of time.

  • Slark. Essence Shift drains attack speed and damage from his target, and buffs Slark by the same amount stolen.

  • Templar Assassin. Refraction grants % bonus damage to her attacks.

  • Terrorblade. Metamorphosis transforms Terrorblade in a “real” demon, drastically buffing his damage. The DPS of the three-stars variant is frightening.

  • Troll Warlord. His passive Fervor gives him attack speed bonus for each attack on the same target. Changing target resets the bonus.

We must not base our item choices only on the DPS of a hero, but also on his abilities. For example, Troll Warlord will greatly benefit from Moon Shard as it increases his attack speed, so he will gain stacks of Fervor at a quicker rate.
