ESL Women’s Sydney Open announced

The ESL Women’s Sydney Open CS:GO tournament has been announced. The event will take place at IEM Sydney 2018 and feature a $10,000 AUD prize pool.

The best women’s teams from Australia and New Zealand will battle live at Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2018. At the end of the two online qualifiers, the top four squads will advance to the Community Stage on Sunday, May 6th. They will also receive a $1,500 AUD travel stipend for their transport and accommodation costs.

The ESL Women’s Sydney Open is a fantastic opportunity for our local players to showcase their skills in front of the most passionate audience in esports at the Community Stage at IEM Sydney. For ESL Australia, this announcement marks the beginning of a commitment for our team to develop more opportunities for women in esports.

In order to take part in the qualifiers, each squad must sign up and submit their roster and documentation. The qualifiers are planned for April 18th and 19th, and each team may enter in one or both. Those that make it into the top 2 of the first qualifier will be automatically excluded from the second one.

Player eligibility according to the IEM rulebook:

  • All female players from Australia and New Zealand can participate in the competition.
     

  • The minimum age requirement is 15-years-old.
     

  • Only players considered female as per government issued ID are eligible to enter in the tournament.

Prize pool distribution:

  • 1st - $6,000 AUD ($4,610)

  • 2nd - $2,000 AUD ($1,540)

  • 3rd-4th - $1,000 AUD ($770)
