The Mousepad Tier List splits all the pads in seven tiers based on their speed and control. Find out the best gaming mousepads based on their durability and your speed preference.

All the data presented in this article has been gathered by Hoya, who allowed me to share it. You can check out his sheet here.

When looking for a new mousepad, my first concern is its speed (I prefer Medium-Quick ones) and the second one is its durability and capacity to return “like new” once washed. I hope this article will help you select a pad that can satisfy your needs.

Speed and Control Tier List

In this tier list, all the mousepads are categorized based on their speed.

  • The higher up a mousepad is in its tier, the faster it is.

  • The pads highlighted with bold are the top recommended ones.

  • The pads marked with * are not recommended.

Very Fast

The fastest mousepads on the market.

Fast

Very low static friction and fast glide, little stopping power.

Quick

Pads that have a much quicker glide but still have proper stopping power.

Medium

Pads with lower static friction without giving up that steady control.

Control

Pads with a focus on steady and “locked in” feeling.

Slow

More control, micro adjustments become difficult. Can be considered “swampy”

Very slow

Arguably too slow.

Mousepad durability and glide lifespan

Every pad indicated in the speed tier list is listed here along its glide durability, fabric type, and if washing revives out of the box glide.

In my opinion, you should prefer mousepads with a longer durability and/or that can be brought back to default performance after a wash.

The pads below are sorted by their glide lifespan.

  • Very durable: 2+ years

  • Durable: 1-2 years

  • Long: 1-12 months

  • Medium: 8-10 months

  • Short: 5-7 months

  • Very short: 4> Months

The table is responsive. If you are using a phone, turn it sideways for a full view. Otherwise, zoom in or press on the grey area of the table to swipe it.

Info on each mousepad

In this section, there are quick but helpful comments on each mousepad that may help with your final choice. The pads are sorted in alphabetical order.

Note: these are all personal opinions, so you might have a different experience.

Aorus AMP500

Becomes very sticky and has increased static friction after about 7-10 months.

Aritisan Shidenkai

Glide loss after 2-4 months, possible sensor issues. Glass “beads/top coat” can feel sticky on your palm and grab onto arm sleeves during gameplay.

Artisan Hayate Otsu

The Otsu has even x/y speed while the regular Hayate has a slight difference in x/y.

Artisan Raiden (mid)

Odd square thread pattern causes sensor malfunctions, recommended using 3360 sensor or newer.

Artisan Raiden (xsoft)

Odd square thread pattern causes sensor malfunctions, recommended using 3360 sensor or newer.

Artisan Zero

Good durability, rough. Tight threading traps hairs, making cleaning difficult, but it does not impact performance.

CooIer master MP510

Stiffer version of ROG Scabbard fabric. QC issue where weave has Y direction faster than X direction. (sometimes)

Corsair MM250

Asymmetrical fissures after prolonged use.

Corsair MM300/MM350

Decreases LOD over time.

Corsair MM600

Rough side.

CS Hyde C4-NGEN

Slows down considerably, becomes “sticky”.

Dechanic Speed

Gets affected by humidity.

DM Pad

Deviation apparent near stitching.

GIorious Mousepad

It is affected by humidity and sweat.

Glipad

Although the gliPAD has very little difference between static friction and kinetic, overall it’s more of a “medium” friction pad. You feel the drag when tracking steadily over long distances - it’s just that starting movement from a dead stop is effortless and makes it feel “very fast” for small movements.

HeIios

DeIetes mousefeet.

HyperX Fury S

Does not collect hair and dust like the Artisan Zero, Qck+, or Gigantus.

Hyperx Fury S Speed

Wears out quickly.

Logitech G640

Loses gIide quite easiIy.

Madcatz G.L.I.D.E. 38

Slightly rough, not awfully irritable. Becomes very sticky and has increased static friction after about 7-10 months.

Nedis Glass Pad

Major Quality Control issues with surface finish (major issue). Spins out on anything that isn’t Hero.

Puretrak TaIent

Gets moist easily. Exhibits bumps on the Z axis. The XL version does not suffer from this problem.

QPAD FX50

Sharp edge.

Razer Gigantus

Does poorly with humidity.

Razer GoIiathus Speed

Develops a waxy texture over time, cannot be fixed. (about a year)

Razer Goliathus Control

Rough.

ROG Scabbard

Has bumps on sides of the pad, collects dust really easily, does not lay flat after months of use. Less stiff version of MP510 fabric.

Steel Series QCK+

Needs to be cIeaned frequentIy.

Steel Series QCK+ Heavy

Needs to be cIeaned frequentIy.

Steel Series QCK+ Iimited

Deviations apparent near stitching. Coating wears off.

Swift RX

Becomes very very slow after wear.

Zowie G-TFX

If not sent in a flat box, it is impossible to get flat. Big wipes make it slower considerably. Also slower if you move your mouse while pressing down the mouse.

Zowie GSR

Glide changes with humidity.

Zowie GSR-SE

Humidity Issues.
