Overwatch Most Played Heroes by competitive tier Season 19 - November 2019
The top 15 most played Overwatch heroes in this meta: November, Season 19. Find out the most popular support, tank, and DPS heroes at each skill tier.
Blizzard has not released an Overwatch API to access the data of all players in the game, so this article displays no official info. There are several websites that gather data from their users, and I decided to utilize the statistics provided by Overbuff as it is the most popular one.
Jeff Kaplan shared the official data on season 9, and the figures were mostly similar to the ones available on Overbuff. We can trust the data even it is isn’t completely accurate.
I have published updated data (based only on PC players) during each season. Check out all the previous meta reports.

Support popularity
Symmetra is still included among the supports because of the statistical tool used. Removing her would have caused problems with the data.

Baptiste’s strengths and gameplay
Baptiste is currently the top 4 most popular healer at GrandMaster, and he reaches the top 3 if we consider only the data of the past week.
Significant damage as a support. Baptiste’s Biotic Launcher primary fire is a three-round-burst hitscan weapon that can deal up to 75 damage per shot - 150 if all the three bullets are headshots.
A well-trained Baptiste can heavily damage and kill most squishy heroes, and even deal with non-tank ones by applying the 100% damage amplification provided by Amplification Matrix.
The recent patch 1.42.0.0 also raised his damage potential because the damage falloff range now begins at 25 meters, up from 20.
Multitasking is crucial. Many Baptiste players focus too much on DPS and ignore healing (and vice versa).
Act as a support, but be ready to switch fire mode at any time if the team doesn’t require healing, or if there is a good opportunity for a quick kill. This behaviour requires some practice because your weapon shoots two types of projectiles, while a support such as Ana doesn’t have this issue when switching from healing to damage mode.
Mobility via Exo Boots. This passive is very underrated in low level pubs, but its correct usage makes the difference between an average and an excellent Baptiste user. Exo Boots requires 1 second to charge fully, there is no cooldown, and it lets you jump up to 9 meters straight up.
If you wish to play Baptiste at a high rank, you must master this ability as it has several uses:
Escapes: heroes who lack vertical mobility will have a hard time chasing you.
Positioning: it is easier to land grenades from the high ground. Learn the best spots.
To dodge projectiles: most DPS players are used to targets who move only horizontally, so you will add an extra layer of difficulty with your vertical movements.
AoE heals. In a meta where AoE healers are the top picks (Moira and Lucio), Baptiste is able to hold his ground thanks to Regenerative Burst and his healing grenades. The former must be used mostly to heal the friendly ranged heroes nearby, especially when they are attacked by a diver.
Immortality every 20 seconds. Immortality Field can be compared to Zenyatta’s Transcendence: you must use it to save the team (or yourself) from a life-threatening situation. Your ability lasts up to 8 seconds, but the drone can be destroyed by the opponents, so be sure to place it at the right time and place.
Note that you must be in the line of sight of the drone to receive the immortality effect, so it won’t work through walls.
Baptiste versus the most popular support picks
Lucio and Ana are not a threat, and you can easily kill them if your aim is decent.
Instead, fighting Moira is not that easy, and the outcome depends on how well you both can use your abilities. For example, if you drop Immortality Field and Moira decides to focus your drone, you will have enough time to kill her.

Baptiste versus the most popular DPS picks
Doomfist is the most played offense hero of the month, and he really wrecks you. Exo Boots’ mobility is not sufficient against him, but Immortality Field can give you a few extra seconds while waiting for help.
Hanzo and Widowmaker are not a big deal as they are sniper heroes: just stay outside of their field of view. Instead, McCree fights at a closer range, so it is harder to avoid him: never fight him back, unless his aim is horrible.
Reaper is not a problem at a long and medium range, but in close quarter combat you have no chances as he just needs 3-4 shots to destroy the drone and kill you. The same goes for Mei as her projectiles are rather easy to dodge from afar, but at a close range you can’t survive against her.
Double Shield Immortality Bastion
I have read several criticisms about the actual usefulness of Baptiste’s Amplification Matrix as many pub players believe it has no impact at all, it is underpowered, and the area affected is too small.
Honestly, this ultimate is quite solid and can potentially change the fate of a battle, but it requires a lot of coordination, which is frequently impossible to achieve at most ranks. Either the team ignores it or everyone moves behind it, including your tanks, so there is no one on whom to abuse the double healing effect.
Amplification Matrix can enable a massive amount of damage: imagine two ranged heroes (McCree and Hanzo) headshooting the enemy team for twice the damage.
It is also a strong zoning tool because it forces the opponents to relocate - otherwise your teammates will annihilate them.
In particular, professional players utilized Baptiste in bunker comps with double shield (Sigma + Orisa) and Bastion.
With two shield tanks and Immortality Field, it is virtually impossible to kill Bastion without a well-coordinated attack and some luck.
No lineup is able to survive against a Bastion boosted by Amplification Matrix.
Finally, while Amplification Matrix might not be as impactful as other support ultimates, it charges very fast.
Tank popularity

Baptiste versus the most popular tank picks
Shield-based tanks such as Orisa and Sigma are not afraid of your damage. The matchup against the former is rather neutral as she usually remains at a long distance behind her shield, while the latter can approach and kill you at any time with his combo. Reinhardt is plain and easy because of his melee range.
Wrecking Ball is a nuisance due to his high mobility, but he needs time to kill you, so you will often survive for as long as necessary to receive help. Exo Boots is very effective against him and any mobility tank because they can’t follow you immediately on the high ground if their movement ability is on cooldown.
Roadhog counters Immortality Field as he can just Chain Hook you outside it, and then kill you with a few hits.
