Team Liquid advance to SL Invitational S3 playoffs

Team Liquid advanced to the playoffs of StarLadder i-league Invitational S3 Minor. They defeated Mineski in the first Bo3, and SG esports in the second.

Earlier today, Liquid claimed their first match at SL Invitational S3 with a quick 2-0 victory against Mineski. The recap of the Bo3 is available here.

They faced SG esports in the winners’ match, and earned the right to move in the playoffs with another crushing victory. SGE lost both games in about 30 minutes.

Liquid is the first team qualified for the playoffs, and will play the semifinals of the tournament on October 15 at 12:00 CEST.

Team Liquid vs SG Esports Bo3 recap

Team Liquid obtained the first blood on Necrophos as soon as the game started, and killed seven more opponents before the 7 minute mark. At this point of the match they already had a 3k gold lead, which kept increasing up to 16k.

Lasse Aukusti "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen had a perfect game as a safe lane Lifestealer, ending the match with a 12-2-6 score. He bought the Armlet of Mordiggian and the Desolator in less than 20 minutes, becoming a very damaging and troublesome opponent for SGE.

The Brazilians had some helpful teamfights at around 16-18 minutes, but they weren’t enough to comeback from such a situation. Liquid ended the game 10 minutes later after winning multiple fights in the top lane and near the enemy’s secret shop.

Game two also went quickly in Liquid’s hands: they ended with a 31-11 score at 31 minutes. Once again they secured many kills during the early game, losing only a handful of ganks.

Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barqawi free-farmed in the mid lane with Luna against a Tidehunter, that obviously didn’t have the skill set to stop her.

Ivan Borislavov "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov had a huge impact on the game with his offlane Eartshaker: he won the lane and got a Blink Dagger in 9 minutes. Thanks to the early mobility, Ivan was able to execute optimal ganks in all the map, closing the game with 8 kills and 16 assists.

SG esports tried a desperate defense, but it was hopeless as Liquid progressively destroyed their towers and barracks, forcing the Brazilians to call gg.
